Jessica Katz, LICSW, PMH-C, CCFP
Welcome!
I am a licensed clinical social worker living in Massachusetts. I am so passionate about empowering people to trust themselves, their bodies, and their instincts. I’m a mother, a board-game lover, a fantasy reader, and a beagle rescuer. I would love to get to know you and hear your incredible story.
Why choose to work with me?
I use Evidence-Based and Collaborative treatment to help clients regain a sense of control in their lives. I use warmth, empowerment, and humor to support clients in making positive changes and learning new tools to cope. Whether you are undergoing IVF treatments, struggling with breast/chest feeding, or finding yourself having more tantrums than your child, I will help you find your strength to face it all.
I have been trained by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and Postpartum Support International.
“Painful feelings are, by their very nature, temporary. They will weaken over time as long as we don’t prolong or amplify them through resistance or avoidance. The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain, therefore, is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through.”
— Kristin Neff, Author of “Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself
My Approach
I build a safe and supportive setting for my clients so we can explore their thoughts and feelings. My therapeutic style is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy supplemented with mindfulness and compassion-focused interventions. My clients know they will always have a warm and genuine space to explore their innermost thoughts and worries.
I apply a feminist and social justice lens to my professional and personal life. It’s important to me that people of all identities and backgrounds feel seen and respected. Often, when people talk about perinatal or postpartum challenges, they default to gendered language or norms. However, birthing people are not just cisgendered women and we as a society have a lot of work to do in helping ALL parents and children.
Professional Background
I earned my Bachelors Degree in Social Work and in Gender Studies at Syracuse University in NY. I went on to complete my Masters in Social Work at Boston College in MA.
I am independently licensed to provide psychotherapy in Massachusetts, Washington State, and Arizona.
I have my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) and am a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP)
I specialize in working with people undergoing infertility treatments, but I am also trained to work with clients facing a number of stressful life situations that impact their mind/body wellness.
